A deal to boost utility supplier OVO Energy’s liability to help the fuel poor has been agreed.

The energy company signed a two-year agreement with energy efficiency solutions company, Anesco to deliver its Energy Company Obligation (ECO) deal.

The plan is for Anesco to support OVO’s ECO rollout to deliver energy efficient measures to residential properties most in need of upgrades, such as boiler replacements and loft insulation.

Under the ECO deal, suppliers have an obligation to pay for energy efficient measures in vulnerable and low-income households, including rural areas.

Adrian Pike, CEO of Anesco said: “A key objective for the UK is not to build more generation but for everybody to use less energy.”
