The company responsible for the safe decommissioning of nuclear sites in the UK has won eight awards for health and safety.

The five gold and three silver awards will be presented to Sellafield at a ceremony in June in London.

Pete Oldfield, Sellafield’s Head of safety said: “It makes me very proud to be able to say that despite being one of the most complex nuclear sites in the world, we are also one of the safest and that is not by chance.”

The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents’ (RoSPA) Occupational Health and Safety Awards offers organisations the opportunity to prove their commitment to raising health and safety standards.

RoSPA is a charity aimed at helping prevent accidents in the UK and around the world.
