Norwegian gas flows have returned as the one-day outage at Easington has ended, according to npower’s daily market report.

The Langeled flows are nominated at 11mcm which is lower than pre-outage levels but higher than expected.

Gemma Bruce from npower’s optimisation desk said: “We could see flows around this level until the end of other Norwegian maintenance.”

The gas system is shorter than yesterday with increased exports through the Interconnector at 27mcm.

The power system’s peak margin is at 13GW with gas fired generation dominating.

Wind is generating at around 4GW but is forecast to drop to 1GW by this evening.

Ms Bruce added: “Load factors for wind are forecast at 25% over the coming week, suggesting we should continue to see gas-fired generation called upon to cover the shortfall.”

Oil prices have recovered slightly at $64.75 a barrel (£41.7/Bbl) following better than expected Japanese GDP data.
