Businesses need to set green targets in order to grow.

That’s according to the Account Director of the Carbon Trust, Mark Reynolds.

After speaking at the Carbon Trust’s conference this morning about transportation, he told ELN: “Targets help in terms of commitment to innovation – targets drive innovation.

“So we see a lot of innovation opportunity, particularly in the transport sector.”

The meeting, ‘Transport & Logistics – leading the way in sustainability’ gave an overview of the trust’s work in the transport sector, with an aim to show how this work has increased resource efficiency and cut costs.

He said green objectives also encourage stakeholders to invest, “for any listed company, I would certainly expect it to have environmental targets in place.”

An organisation which has targets in place will also “drive energy efficiency and it will save them money” he concluded.
