A 200MW wind farm in North Texas is now generating electricity.

EDF Energies Nouvelles announced the opening of the Longhorn wind farm, which has 100 turbines.

According to the company the output is equivalent to powering 55,000 homes in Texas every year.

The project has increased the group’s installed capacity in Texas close to the 1GW mark.

The power generated by the wind farm is sold into the ERCOT (Electric Reliability Council of Texas) local power market and covered by a long-term, fixed-price energy purchase agreement.
