The gas system is undersupplied this morning, according to npower’s daily market report.

The linepack is currently forecast to close 16mcm short.

Tim Carter from npower’s optimisation desk said: “The key changes are an increase in demand largely due to poor wind generation, which means CCGT gas demand is up at 38mcm today.”

There is an overall increase in net exports to the continent as BBL flows to the UK have dropped to zero.

Storage injection demand has fallen as well to offset some of the other demand increases, Mr Carter added.

Oil prices have fallen to $56 a barrel (£36/Bbl).
