The demand for gas has increased due to the system being undersupplied, according to npower’s daily market report.

Langeled flows are nominating 20mcm this morning which is in line with last week.

Alex Guiot from npower’s optimisation desk said: “We can expect the flows to slowly increase until the 23th July when the Troll [Norwegian gas field] maintenance will end.”

The Dutch Balgzand Bacton Line (BBL) nominations remain at zero and flows are not expected to increase.

LNG is nominating 28mcm on the South Hook following the arrival of a tanker at the terminal on Friday.

Mr Guiot added: “Although there are no further confirmed tankers, there are three cargoes which look set to be heading to the UK before the end of the month.”

 

Wind generation is now out-turning slightly more than 1GW after having provided more than 4GW last weekend.

Solar is forecast to out-turn just 1.8GW later today.

As a result of poor renewable feed-in, CCGT demand is nominating 35mcm, which is 46% of the stack.

The price of oil has dropped and is now trading at around $57.50 a barrel (£37/Bbl).

The Eurozone leaders have reached an agreement with Greece on a third bailout agreement after negotiations continued through the night at an emergency summit.
