Gas and electricity prices could increase from September, according to Inenco’s Y report.
That could happen if power margins become tighter than normal this winter as predicted by National Grid.
Stuart Lea, Head of Energy Trading said: This could be coupled with higher gas prices early weather systems are suggesting we could be in line for a colder than normal winter.”
The euro has crashed to a seven-year low due to the Greek issue.
Mr Lea said: “This means that importing gas from Europe to the UK is so much cheaper and has brought prices down to all time contract lows beating those sets in January this year.”
He added it is a good time to place fixed price contracts now and assess flexible contracts.
