Are you tired of the current charging systems with their heavy cables for your plug-in hybrid or electric vehicle (EVs)?

Don’t worry, it looks like a wireless charging system may appear by 2017.

According to a report charging posts without cables will be introduced in the EV market in two years.

First, the technology will be offered as an optional purchase for luxury cars but is expected to be totally commercialised by 2028.

Kevin Mak, Senior Analyst in the Automotive Electronics Service (AES) at Strategy Analytics said: “Challenges include the speed of finalising standards, since it is critical for wireless charging systems to be interoperable, in instances where the consumer buys a different brand of electric vehicle or when charging on public infrastructures.”
