E.ON has formed a partnership with an Australian smart lighting company.

Organic Response is a Melbourne-based start-up which develops smart lighting controls for commercial and public buildings.

It connects individual light fixtures and turns them into a more energy efficient network.

The technology senses people and it has ambient light sensors which operate based on the environment, i.e. open offices and corridors.

Studies have shown the system can reduce a building’s lighting energy consumption by as much as 80%, E.ON claims.

The technology is currently in use in hospitals, schools and a range of public buildings.

Both companies will work together to establish sales channels and increase marketing for products in E.ON’s markets.

Susana Quintana Plaza, Senior Vice President for Technology and Innovation at E.ON said: “Organic Response’s advanced data analytics and connectivity can add real value to E.ON’s commercial building customers in Europe by enabling them to achieve lasting reductions in their energy and operating costs.”
