Plans to build a wind farm with a capacity of 20MW have been given the green light.

Dumfries and Galloway Council’s Planning Committee has given permission following a recommendation for approval by the Planning Officer.

The project is being developed by WilloWind Energy and SgurrEnergy which provided planning and environmental consultancy support.

The company said the cash generated by the plant once it starts operating will be given to the local community.

Greg McAlister, SgurrEnergy’s Environment Team Leader said: “This decision shows that even in what has become a challenging environment for UK renewables, there are still opportunities for success if projects are developed in the right place and sympathetic to the needs of local communities and stakeholders.”
