GDF SUEZ Energy UK is buying the power generated from a wind farm extension project.

It has signed a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Community Windpower for all the electricity produced by the Aikengall II wind farm in East Lothian.

It will include 19 turbines which are expected to generate 250GWh of energy annually – equivalent to powering more than 42,000 homes.

The project is scheduled to start operating in early 2016.

The company already buys the output from the Aikengall I wind farm which generates 150GWh of power per year.

Paul Roberts, Head of Local Portfolio Management, GDF SUEZ Energy UK said: “We are extremely pleased to extend our relationship with Community Windpower and to be part of another successful renewable energy project.”
