Mayor of London Boris Johnson said he is “concerned” about the government’s decision to cut subsidies in the solar industry.

At the Mayor’s Question Time on Wednesday, he said: “I am concerned about the government’s potential cuts to feed-in tariffs. We are talking to members of all the representative bodies of solar industry in London, looking at what we can do to understand what impacts this will have.”

The solar industry in London has created 10,000 jobs, according to Mr Johnson who explained what he believes are the reasons behind the government’s decision.

He added: “Obviously solar panels have got cheaper, which is the government’s reason I think for cutting the feed-in tariffs but I think it would be wrong if the cut in the feed-in tariffs means it actually stops people from investing in solar because it clearly got many, many attractions.”
