The UK gas system is oversupplied, according to npower’s daily market report.

The linepack is forecast 14mcm long.

Langeled flows to the UK are nominating at 50mcm.

Tim Carter from npower’s Optimisation Desk said: “The impact of planned maintenance at Kollsnes gas plant in Norway has been reduced from 7mcm to just 2.5mcm.”

LNG is currently nominating 40mcm and four cargoes are expected to arrive in the UK at the beginning of October.

Mr Carter added: “Rough storage site has returned from outage and provides a little extra demand with 10mcm nominated for injection and CCGT demand is high but not enough to cover the available supply.”

On the power system, peak margins are under 10GW.

Wind is generating 1GW and is expected to double production today.

Oil is trading above $48 per barrel.
