The UK gas system is oversupplied, according to npower’s daily market report.

That’s because storage injections are less accounting for 17mcm of the UK gas demand. The linepack is currently forecast at 12mcm.

Tim Carter, from npower’s optimisation desk said: “If we see sufficient pressure on prompt prices this may encourage more injections to balance the system.

“CCGT demand is forecast a little higher but with wind generation currently out-turning better than expected this may come down a little if this continues.”

LNG send-out is still “strong” nominated at 45mcm. Four tankers are expected to arrive by Monday.

Domestic demand is expected to rise by 10mcm-15mcm as temperatures look set to dip below the 10-year average.
