The UK gas system has opened 11mcm short, according to npower’s daily market report.

Langeled flows are at 50mcm while LNG send-out is at 34mcm.

Alex Guiot from npower’s Optimisation Desk said: “Storage injection nominations remain healthy and this combined with CCGT dominating the power stack is keeping demand higher than seasonal normal levels.”

Temperatures are expected to drop from tomorrow so local distribution zones (LDZ) consumption will increase and support demand in the next weeks.

On the power side, wind is generating at 1.8GW, below latest forecasts and is expected to decrease to 1.2GW today.

Solar is forecast above 1.9GW.

Mr Guiot added: “The Dutch interconnector is importing at full capacity but the French one is halved for the moment.”

Brent oil is trading upwards this morning, he said.

He added: “This move was led by a rally in US gasoline and Russia’s willingness to meet other major oil producers to discuss market conditions. The front month Brent contract last traded at $49.17/bbl.”
