A UK investment company is buying a wind farm in Germany that has atotal capacity of 89MW.
John Laing Group said it is investing around €45 million (£33.2m) to €50 million (£37m) to buy the Klettwitz wind farm in Brandenburg Schipkau.
The project, bought from German developer Ventotec, includes 27 wind turbines.
It follows a repowering project that saw the site upgraded from a 36-turbine project with 59MW of capacity.
Olivier Brousse, CEO of John Laing said: “Our investment in Klettwitz takes John Laing into renewable energy in Germany for the first time and provides us with an attractive project. Investing in wind turbine repowering is an area where we believe there are likely to be further opportunities to capitalise on the major advances in wind turbine technology made in recent years.”
Financial close is expected before the end of November.
