A UK energy supplier is getting rid of coal.

OVO Energy has announced its decision to eliminate electricity produced by coal from their fuel mix.

The company reduced its carbon emissions by 34% compared to last year.

Founder and CEO Stephen Fitzpatrick, said the firm is committed to increasing renewable production in their energy mix.

Energy Secretary Amber Rudd said: “Harnessing the power of consumers to push for such a change shows that the energy market can help deliver a lower carbon economy. We welcome companies like OVO innovating in this way.”
