The UK gas system is short, according to npower’s daily market report.

The linepack is forecast 25mcm as flows from Norway have been reduced.

Langeled flows are nominated above 50mcm.

Ben Spry from npower’s Optimisation Desk said: “The net interconnector flows have reversed as well with IUK exports ramping up and Dutch imports reducing leaving a net demand on the system of 18mcm. LNG flows have picked up a touch to compensate but we are also seeing higher domestic and CCGT demand today than late last week, while there is very little activity from Storage sites in either direction.”

On the power system, the peak margins are above 10GW.

Wind is currently generating at 2.5GW and is forecast a peak of up to 7GW.

Mr Spry added: “French interconnectors are importing again at the reduced capacity of 1.5GW following several French nuclear restarts but maintenance continues through this week to restore 100% capacity.”

Brent oil is currently trading below below $45 per barrel (£29.7/bbl).
