Ofgem has decided to provide another opportunity for interconnector developers to get their plans included in its scheme that guarantees them a set level of payment for electricity.

It is the second opportunity window under the regulator’s “cap and floor scheme” and will be open from 31st March to 31st October next year.

It follows the first application window which closed in September 2014, when five projects applied for cap and floor regulation.

Projects will need to meet certain criteria to be considered and provide three months notification in writing before submitting an application.

They must provide the necessary evidence, including an agreement for connection before 2022 and an interconnector licence which has either been granted or an application has been made.

Developers must provide their full application by 31st October 2016.
