Spanish energy manufacturer Gamesa has won a contract to supply turbines for Amazon’s wind farm in the US.

The company will deliver 48 turbines with a capacity of 2.1MW each to the project located in Ohio.

The Amazon Wind Farm is expected to have a total capacity of 100MW – enough electricity for more than 29,000 homes.

The energy generated will power one of the Amazon’s data centres.

The project, which is estimated to start operating by the end of next year, is developed by EDP Renewables.
