The UK power and gas prices are still low, according to npower’s daily market report.

The gas system is oversupplied and the linepack is forecast to close at 15mcm.

Langeled flows are at 53mcm and flows from St Fergus Shell terminal as well as from Norway have been reduced.

Gemma Bruce from npower’s Optimisation Desk said: “LNG and BBL flows remain steady at 24mcm and 18mcm respectively with the mild weather keeping demand subdued.”

On the power system, margins are at 13GW.

Wind is generating 5.7GW.

Imports through the French interconnector are at full capacity.

Ms Bruce added: “As a result we have seen gas-fired generation reduced with CCGT currently making up 30% of the stack. Nuclear generation has seen further reduction from yesterday morning with Hartlepool 2 also coming offline unexpectedly yesterday.”

Oil is currently trading below $37 (£24.4) per barrel.
