The Green Investment Bank (GIB) is providing financial support for the construction of a 52.9MW wind farm in Scotland.

It is investing £49.5 million as part of a £82.7 million fund with KKR and Temporis.

The Blackcraig wind farm will be located in Dumfries and Galloway and will consist of 23 turbines.

They are expected to generate more than 150GWh of electricity per year – equivalent to powering 37,500 homes.

It is also expected to reduce emissions by around 25kt annually.

Construction of the project will begin in January 2016 and is scheduled to start operating by the end of March.

It is owned by Blue Energy which has also created a community fund to support local initiatives through the 25-year life of the wind farm.
