This week is not the best time to enter the market, according to Inenco’s Y report.
Dorian Lucas, Energy Trader said: “Market liquidity dries up and we can’t see the kind of transparency in the market that we would do normally.”
Customers who are looking to place a fixed price contract should “hold off” until after Christmas so they can get “slightly a better price” although this is not 100% guaranteed.
Customers on flexible contracts should not trade this week and wait for new year.
Mr Lucas added: “Those customers who’ve got really high hedges. I wouldn’t recommend you to trade just kind of see how the market goes, sit on your hands and see how far it can go.
“Those who’ve got really, really low coverage. You may want to consider taking some [power] but again if you can just wait until market liquidity increases in the new year you might get yourself a slightly bigger price.”
