Plans to build a 200MW wind farm in Quebec have been unveiled.

The project is expected to help the Canadian province reach its goal of installing 4GW of wind power under its 2006/15 plan.

The new wind farm is a partnership between the Government of Quebec, Hydro-Quebec and the Innu Nation.

Jean-Frédérick Legendre, Canadian Wind Energy Association’s (CanWEA) Regional Director, Quebec said: “This project is an important milestone that will enable Quebec to meet the objectives of its 2006-2015 energy strategy and provide a bridge for Quebec’s wind industry into the next energy policy.”

The wind industry in Quebec employs around 5,000 people and has generated investments worth C$10 billion (£4.9bn) in the last decade, CanWEA added.
