Saudi Arabia has reportedly signed a contract with a solar developer to build a 120MW factory.
The country’s Royal Commission signed the deal with Al-Afandi Solar for the project.
Production rate in the factory is expected to hit more than 1GW when it is completed by the end of 2016.
The project is part of the world’s largest oil producer’s plans to implement measures and initiatives that will encourage energy efficiency and invest in renewable programmes.
In November, Saudi Arabia pledged to reduce around 130 million tonnes of CO2 equivalent by 2030.
