The UK gas system has opened 38mcm long this morning, according to npower’s daily market report.
That’s because supply is increasing from Norway as two outages have ended.
Flows from the South Hook pipeline are nominated at 30mcm and the Rough storage facility is at 42mcm.
Alex Guiot from the Optimisation Desk said: “Temperatures today are a touch below seasonal normal and are expected to drop to 4°C below seasonal average before slowly warming during the 4th week of January.”
On the power system, peak margins are at 8.2GW.
Wind is generating 2.6GW and is forecast to reach 5GW this afternoon.
Mr Guiot added: “CCGTs are providing 44% of the stack and coal 20%.”
The Dutch Interconnector is importing at full capacity while the French is at 1.4GW.
Oil is trading at $32.6 (£22.1) per barrel.
