The UK power system has opened comfortable, according to npower’s daily market report.

The peak margins are above 10GW.

CCGT generation is providing 41% of the stack and coal 18%.

The Dutch and French interconnectors are importing at full capacity while wind is generating 4.2GW and is expected to reach 5.8GW today.

The gas system has opened 16mcm long this morning.

Norwegian flows through the Langeled pipeline are at 70mcm and the Rough storage is at its full capacity at 42mcm.

Alex Guiot from the Optimisation Desk said: “Holford is withdrawing 8mcm but might decrease later as the gas system is long. On the LNG side, South Hook is contributing 30mcm to the system. More than half of US LNG is destined for Europe after prices fell in Asia, the world’s biggest consumer of the fuel.”

Oil is trading at $30 (£20.7) per barrel.
