The UK gas system has opened 12mcm short, according to npower’s daily market report (DMR).
An unplanned outage at St Fergus gas terminal has reduced supply by 5mcm.
Alex Guiot from the Optimisation Desk said: “Norwegian flows have improved today but most of the storage site withdrawals are similar to yesterday morning’s levels before they increased to help balance the system.”
On the power side, wind is generating 3GW and is forecast to reach 5GW today.
Mr Guiot added: “On a positive note for UK power supply margins, EDF has announced it will extend the life of four of its UK nuclear energy reactors by up to seven years.”
Brent oil is currently trading at $35.3/bbl (24.04/bbl).
