A Shell VP is to become the new chair of the International Association of Oil & Gas Producers.
Monika Hausenblas, Royal Dutch Shell’s Executive Vice President Safety & Environment was elected in the February meeting of the IOGP to succeed John Chaplin of ExxonMobil.
Taking over in a climate of plummeting prices, Ms Hausenblas said the IOGP needed to make noise:
“In the midst of cost and complexity escalation, oil price decline, climate change challenges and societal expectations, the industry’s need for an impactful voice is greater than ever.
“I believe IOGP is the most credible organisation to be that voice. I am honoured to have been elected the Chair of IOGP at this crucial juncture in our industry’s history.”
An Austrian, Ms. Hausenblas joined Shell in 1992 and has a PhD in Solid State Physics.
