Jo has deep knowledge of the commercial landscape of the energy industry. Over a long career in the industry she has worked in a Big 6 supplier, built a retail business as a new entrant, lead one of the leading TPIs and has recently moved to lead Cornwall Energy, a business focused on providing strategic energy market advice and intelligence to market participants.
This gives her a unique perspective on the UK energy market, and the challenges and opportunities associated with market participation.
Jo trained and qualified as a Chartered Accountant with KPMG, before moving into the energy sector. Initially Jo worked for Eastern Energy, before its takeover by TXU Europe and final acquisition by E.ON. Throughout this period Jo specialised in large scale system development and migration, rebranding activities and ultimately took P&L responsibility for the large corporates multisite business.
On leaving E.ON, Jo was headhunted to build the retail business of SmartestEnergy Ltd. Jo led the market entry process to enable the business to offer non half hourly supply and took responsibility for operations across SmartestEnergy, building knowledge and expertise in the independent generation PPA market.
Most recently Jo’s role was as managing director of Utilyx Ltd. Jo led the transition of the business from energy brokerage to delivery of end to end energy solutions.
Jo joined Cornwall Energy in January 2016 as Managing Director, a business which provides market insight, training and consultancy to market participants. Jo is a frequent speaker at industry events and her opinion pieces and blogs have been regularly published.
