Centrica has competed an £80 million gas pipeline project in Barrow, Lancashire.
The 1.1km pipeline connects the South and North Morecambe gas terminals in the north of England.
The project also included upgrades of the latter terminal and all gas produced at Centrica’s Morecambe offshore fields will be processed there before going into the National Grid’s transmission system.
North Morecambe gas terminal has a production rate of around 8.4 million cubic metres a day.
Darrell Hampshire, Terminals Manager at the Barrow Gas Terminals said: “The Barrow Terminals Project was critical to the future of the site and will allow us to produce and process gas for many years to come.
“The completion of this work and other projects means we have invested more than £100 million in our Morecambe Bay operations in the past two years as we continue to secure gas for UK homes.”
