The UK peak power margin is low, according to npower’s daily market report.

That’s because wind is generating 200MW and is not expected to rise today but is forecast to reach 4.8GW tomorrow.

CCGT generation is providing 47% of the power mix, coal is producing 12% and the Dutch and French interconnectors are importing at full capacity.

The gas system is oversupplied with the linepack forecast 20mcm long.

Alex Guiot from the Optimisation Desk said: “Rough maintenance has ended and is nominating 5mcm… On the LNG side we are waiting for two tankers to dock in the UK on the 4th and on the 7th.”

Brent oil is trading below $40/bbl (£27.6/bbl).
