Sustainability and energy consumption are important to half of travellers when choosing hotels.

That’s according to a survey by OnePoll, which added a third of 2,000 guests questioned believe hotels should be judged on how sustainable they are.

The survey also revealed a third of people admitted to using more energy than they would at home.

However around 50% would be willing to be an “eco-customer” if they got a discount for adopting environmentally friendly behaviours such as using one towel throughout their visit and a limited supply of hot water.
