The UK gas system is “reasonably” balanced, according to npower’s daily market report.
The linepack is forecast to close 1mcm short.
The Langeled pipeline is nominating at 13mcm and flows through the BBL one are at zero.
The UK Interconnector is exporting 36mcm of gas to Europe.
Alex Guiot from the Optimisation Desk said: “There is also little support coming from storage facilities with Rough, the only significant participant, nominating at 15mcm. The low nominations are perhaps ahead of the warmer temperatures we are seeing picking up into the weekend. Demand figures remain above seasonal normal levels despite the warmer weather.”
On the power system, the peak margin is expected to be below 14GW.
CCGT is generating around 17GW providing 49% of the stack.
Wind is producing 3GW, coal 2GW and nuclear 7GW.
Brent oil is currently trading at $45.7/bbl (£31.5/bbl).
Mr Guiot added: “As mentioned contrary to the US inventory data released yesterday afternoon oil is now trading higher. US Stockpiles were seen to be 2.2 million barrels higher than forecasted. Today following the Canadian fires oil output has decreased by up to a million barrels.
“Iran has also anounced that they would be willing to play ball with other OPEC members and participate in the production freeze, once their production is up to pre-sanction levels. Iranian stockpiles have also reduced dramatically following the lifted sanctions in a rush to benefit from new trade opportunities.”
