The UK gas system is forecast to close more than 4mcm long, according to npower’s daily market report.

That’s because temperatures have increased as well as flows from Norway.

The Langeled pipeline is flowing at 45mcm and LNG send-out remains at 15mcm.

Gemma Bruce from the Optimisation Desk said: “We are still to have any confirmed tankers on the horizon indicating that LNG flows are not going to increase anytime soon. Exports through the UK Interconnector remain at zero helping to ensure the UK gas system is well supplied with BBL also inactive.”

On the power system the peak margin is below 12GW.

Wind generation is providing less than 1% of the energy mix and gas-fired generation is contributing 51% of the stack.

The French and Dutch interconnectors are importing at full capacity.

Brent oil is trading at $50.8/bbl (£34.5/bbl)

Ms Bruce added: “Oil is holding onto yesterday’s gains which saw the front month contract close near a 10-month high following US Government data indicating that crude stockpiles declined for a third week, trimming the supply glut.”
