Google has announced it will buy 236MW of wind energy in Europe.
The search engine giant said it will purchase power from two new wind farms in Norway and Sweden.
It will be used to power its data centres in Europe.
Google said it has so far bought more than 500MW of wind power in Europe and almost 2.5GW worldwide.
That’s equivalent of taking more than one million cars off the road, it added.
In a statement, the firm said: “One of our key goals is to enable the addition of new renewable energy generation capacity to the grid rather than drawing power from existing facilities. Thanks to Europe’s increasingly integrated energy market, we’re able to buy wind energy in Norway and Sweden and consume it elsewhere in Europe.”
