The Sales Professional of the Year title was given to Jason Miller from Full Power Utilities at The Energy Live Consultancy Awards (TELCA).
When asked why he won the award, which was sponsored by McLean Ross, Mr Miller said he has a lot of “really supportive” people around him.
He added: “When it comes to sales, you’ve got to be a bit creative but at the end of the day, I’ve got a great support network. I think that’s the reason why I won it.”
The judges said he won because he showed an impressive combination of determination on behalf of his customers combined with an engaging style which won the trust and support of his clients.
Mr Miller believes there are some TPIs that give the industry a bad name by “cold calling and hounding them”, adding: “We prefer the more consultative approach. I think the people that don’t have the consultative approach, like the brokers that actually want to look out for their clients, I think they give the industry a bad name.”
The winners of TELCA 2016 were announced at a ceremony in London last week.
