The UK’s gas system is “reasonably” balanced, according to npower’s daily market report.
However it is 2mcm undersupplied.
Sam Hill from the Optimisation Desk said: “Similarly to the rest of the week the shortness in supply is being driven by the ongoing processing plant outage affecting Norwegian Langeled flows and the strong Bacton UK Interconnector export demand around 45mcm.”
On the power system, the peak margin is above 11GW.
Gas-fired power generation is at 19GW, providing 56% of the energy mix while wind production is at 700MW.
Imports through the Dutch interconnector are at 100MW.
Brent oil is currently trading at $45.8/bbl (£34.3/bbl).
Mr Hill added: “As highlighted in some of our reports yesterday, the decreased US crude stockpiles had little effect on sentiment, with ample supply of fuel stockpiles outweighing any demand during the US driving season. China have also upped exports of gasoline as their refiners look to soak up some of the increasing Chinese stockpiles.”
