The number of people switching energy supplier is still high despite the summer break.

A record number of people switched electricity supplier in July, totaling at 333,653 customers. This is a 22% increase from July 2015.

This brings the total number of electricity switches to 2,658,437 so far year.

Data shows 76,174 customers switched to small and medium suppliers in July, making up 23% of all switches.

Business and Energy Secretary Greg Clark said: “Government action means the market is more competitive than ever and these figures show that even more bill payers are reaping the benefits by switching and saving up to £300.

“We need to keep working to continue to drive down energy bills for hard working families and businesses by continuing to reform the energy market so it really works for consumers.”
