The UK power peak margin is very tight at 6GW, according to npower’s daily market report.
Alex Guiot from the Optimisation Desk said: “This jump on the prompt is also due to National Grid’s forecast of negative margin for tomorrow of 1GW. Outages are one of the reason; balance of September loses 400MW of Keadby as a generator fault persists adding to the list of extensions in recent weeks and Drax succumbs to recent struggles and will be unavailable until Thursday afternoon.”
The Dutch and French interconnectors are importing close to full capacity.
The gas system is still oversupplied at 19mcm long.
Mr Guiot added: “Langeled is only importing 5mcm, a bit more than forecast yesterday. LNG nominations are in line with previous days. Another Norwegian outage was announced last night at the Karstoe terminal next Friday.”
Brent oil is currently trading at $47.18/bbl (£35.3/bbl).
