The UK gas system is 20mcm long, according to npower’s daily market report.

Demand is lower than seasonal normal levels as temperatures are above average for this time of the year.

An LNG cargo will arrive to the UK on the 7th of November.

On the power system, demand is expected to peak at 42GW.

Wind is generating 3.6GW and is set to increase to 6GW later today while solar generation could reach 3GW.

Rodney Johnson from the Optimisation Desk said: “Heysham 1-1 and Heysham 2-8 continue with planned maintenance. The French interconnector is exporting at 2GW capacity into France right now and will continue to do so during most of the day as nuclear woes continue to plague the French market.

“French nuclear availability rose to 69% yesterday, compared to 81% for the same period last year.  The French interconnector is set to flow back into the UK at only 1GW for an hour this evening.”

Brent oil is currently trading at $50.01/bbl (£40.5/bbl).

Mr Johnson added: “Brent has traded range bound overnight as doubts on OPEC’s ability to implement a production freeze have been balanced by supply concerns from Venezuela.”

The pound is valued at €1.12.

Market trends will be part of the discussions at the Energy Live 2016 conference in London next Thursday. There are limited free tickets for energy end users and university students.
