Job Description
Lead the development and implementation of the Engineering and Maintenance Strategies for the BHPS portfolio and ensure the assets are maintained to allow safe and efficient operation within authorised operating conditions that aligns with a strategically focussed budget.
Lead the development and implementation of a Performance centred culture that drives the delivery of ‘Making Money’ and ‘The Six’ across the BHPS portfolio, including overseeing the identification, evaluation and subsequent delivery of EBIT enhancing opportunities.
Lead the creation and co-ordination of the BHPS Business plans by ensuring Sites and Central Teams deliver their plans, resulting in the timely production and formulation of a AM Business Plan for submission into the RUUK (Circa £7m).
Lead the delivery of a commercially optimised BHPS business working closely with every BHPS Site, Commercial, Energy Trading and AM Compliance team
Senior member of the BHPS Management Team, Owner of the Engineering Forum contributing to the Engineering & Maintenance Strategy within Asset Management and Regional Unit UK

Responsibilities
•Ensure that Safety, Health and Environmental systems, processes and people, within the Engineering & Performance Team, are compliant with statutory and company requirements – delivering Zero Harm
•Develop and support engineering and maintenance strategies for the BHPS assets that meet the requirements of the business over the short, medium and long term and aligning the strategies with ‘Making Money’ by evaluating engineering risk against potential cost savings.
•Lead the process to ensure that every BHPS generating asset is commercially optimised to maximise revenues and minimise controllable costs.
•Contribute to the Site specific monthly EBIT Meetings and the development of a cultural change programme that identifies and implements EBIT enhancing initiatives, aligned with ‘Making Money’
•Lead and deliver the BHPS business plan, ensuring that all Sites & Central Teams’ submissions are challenged, robust and complete to meet B2M requirements.
•Main point of contact and key liaison with all relevant stakeholders
•Ensure that sufficient support contracts and resources are available to provide and maintain efficient effective operation of plant.
•Deliver effective leadership of the Engineering, and Performance Teams that continually deliver maximum value whilst delivering customer satisfaction, to the BHPS business.
•Ensure that PI(OsiSoft) is at the centre of helping to deliver ‘world-class’ operations and maintenance assets and is continually developed to provide timely, accurate and relevant reporting of BHPS KPIs via the BHPS Scorecard.
•Identification and mitigation of key engineering risks within the BHPS portfolio.
•Participating as a senior member of the BHPS Operations Management Team.
Represent the BHPS business at a number of Meetings and, BHPS Forums, Business Continuity etc).
•Defining and implementing Engineering and Maintenance strategies, policies and procedures to achieve measured performance as defined in the Business Plan (financial, availability, efficiency, SHE, etc.) to programme, budget and quality;
•Embedding a performance centred culture across BHPS by challenging Sites to continually improve their EBIT by improving revenues and/or reducing costs.
•support monthly EBIT meeting at every Site that involves the Site’s Management Team, Commercial and relevant members of the Engineering & Performance Team.
•Delegated responsibility for the Asset Management business, in the absence of the Head of Asset Management;
•Responsible for the deployment and technical direction of resources directly or via others.
•Managing the Engineering & Performamnce Team activities, both day to day and long term.
•Responsible for the effective delivery of outages across the BHPS portfolio, maximising value and availability.
•Approving contracts up to a value of £0.5m, and securing approval for contracts in excess of £0.5m;
•Taking the role of Engineer on all major Engineering Contracts across the BHPS portfolio.
•Responsible, through others, for the management of the current BHPS contracts (in excess of 100 contracts) and the formulation of new contracts.
•Forming the business case, securing funding and obtaining Financial Investment Paper approval for large value projects.

•Assist in the production of the annual Asset Engineering Risks and Opportunities (AERO) report and secure funding for the BHPS portfolio key risks and opportunities.
•Identifying and implementing opportunities for improvements in plant, maintenance or outage practises.
•Full responsibility for signing off all Category 1 modifications at all BHPS sites within our organisations modification process.
•Audit sites compliance to company standards and external statutory requirements;
•Drive major improvements in the use of PI across BHPS to significantly improve asset management and operational performance, including the timely and efficient reporting of KPIs via the Scorecard.
•Benchmark sites and share best practice.
•Supporting the development and implementation of strategies for Business Heat and Power Solutions and our organisation.

Candidates must have:
– An extensive understanding of Power Station operations;
– Sound knowledge of the strategy and how it impacts on the BHPS Business
– Knowledge of current policies and procedures which affect the management of the BHPS assets and Generation;
– Extensive contract management skills to identify, implement and manage large value contracts;
– A safety management qualification (NEBOSH or equivalent);
