The UK gas system is forecast to close 4mcm long, according to npower’s daily market report.

That’s despite demand being 66mcm above average for this time of the year.

Rodney Johnson from the Optimisation Desk said: “Temperatures are forecast to be as much as 4°C below seasonal normal levels today. Although temperatures are forecast to get warmer over the next couple of days, they are expected to stay below seasonal normal levels for the foreseeable future.”

 

On the power system, demand is expected to peak around 51GW.

Wind is generating 2.5GW and solar is forecast to reach 3GW later today.

The French interconnector is currently flowing at 1GW into France and will flow into the UK later today.

Brent oil is trading at $47.60/bbl (£38.08/bbl).

The pound is valued at €1.17.
