Our client are embarking upon significant expansion and has won various contracts to supply smart meters to residential and commercial customers, both in the UK and across Europe. Currently they are looking to hire a SMART Metering Product Manager to support the growth and development of their SMART portfolio by providing leadership in product management orchestrating the engineering, sales and development  of new gas metering products.

Responsibilities

  • Analyse markets requirements detecting opportunities where could sell existing or new solutions and define short and long term product strategies to tackle identified target markets
  • Develop business cases for new product development and recommendations for the client’s investment
  • Manage customer requirements, establishing what is inside and outside of the current solutions proposition, proposing solutions when appropriate.  Commercial solution may include modification to an existing market product or business case and justification to use Development resource from global technical support
  • Define products sale pricing strategy for different markets and clients
  • Work with the technical, operations and supply chain team to drive cost effectiveness of the products, from design to manufacturing
  • Develop commercial awareness to detect and feedback on possible market opportunities and solutions
  • Supporting Sales when meeting customers.  Consistently delivering a credible technical solution for individual customers in response to their agenda and location within the utilities supply chain

Skills and Experience

  • Ideally a product management background in metering
  • Essential to have a background in the UK or European gas markets
  • Ideally educated to Degree level
  • Ideally at least 5 years + in energy and/or manufacturing sector
  • Senior level experience of at least 5 years + in product management and/or business development
  • Experience of customer requirements understanding, solution definition and selling
  • Ability to motivate teams others to work within tight timeframes and simultaneously manage several projects
