Green gas is the key to decarbonising heat.
So said the boss of the Energy and Utilities Alliance, Mike Foster.
Mr Foster said there were, “…unquestionable benefits of ‘green gas’. We all know that decarbonising heat is tricky but necessary if we are to meet our climate change obligations and gas has a critical role to play in the process.”
With gas supplying 85% of UK homes, it is a vital network that could offer a huge decarbonising pathway.
He added: “Both the government and industry recognise this and so the focus now is really on how and when, rather than ‘what if’. Using the range of green gases we can offer a cost effective way of meeting our 2050 carbon reduction targets, whilst keeping our hot water running and the heating on.”
