Waste management firm Veolia and its partner Peterson have been awarded two oil rig decommissioning contracts.

They include the onshore receipt and disposal of offshore materials and several assets for a major gas producer.

The work will cover a number of production complex platforms and surrounding satellite platforms located around 40 miles off the coast of Great Yarmouth.

The companies aim to recycle 96% of materials and assets, with work scheduled to start in spring this year and last around four years.

It is expected to create 10 new jobs.

Ron van der Laan, Regional Director, Peterson said: “These contract awards are a significant milestone and a step towards establishing Great Yarmouth as a centre of excellence for decommissioning in the Southern North Sea.”
