Schneider Electric and ENGIE have joined forces to explore and deploy new digital solutions for operational efficiency of renewable assets such as wind and solar.

They have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to look into asset management, remote monitoring and diagnostics as well as cybersecurity.

They will use software such as SCADA provided by Schneider Electric’s Wonderware system.

Schneider Electric already provides ENGIE’s wind and solar power plants with real-time monitoring and management.

Didier Holleaux, Executive Vice President of ENGIE said: “ENGIE’s objective is to develop remote supervision and control of its global renewable energy production assets and possibly other energy assets as well, to optimise their performance.

“We are working in close collaboration with Schneider Electric with a shared vision of the challenges of an energy world that is decarbonised, digitalised and decentralised.”

Last month Schneider Electric snapped up a US renewable energy advisory company.
