AB’s cogeneration is confirmed as an ideal environment- and economy-friendly solution for companies and a perfect choice for energy-intensive sectors such as paper-cardboard-coated board production. Cartiera di Momo S.p.A., based in Momo (Novara), was born in 1963 and over the years has established itself as a dynamic European company.

Cartiera di Momo has chosen to adopt a “green” policy linked to energy efficiency by relying on AB, a world leader in the cogeneration sector, to rationalize the use of fossil fuels. This has allowed cost savings and improvement of environmental conditions with respect to greenhouse gases.

Orzinuovi (Brescia), 22 July 2015. The Executive Board of Cartiera di Momo S.p.A., due to the high consumption of power and heat necessary for the manufacturing processes typical of this sector, and faced with the particular financial situation of recent years which is characterized by high energy costs, especially in Italy, has decided to trust industry-leading AB for the construction of an ECOMAX®Natural Gas Line cogeneration plant in its Momo (Novara) production plant.

The ECOMAX® 33 HE system is fuelled by natural gas and is a modular container solution, with a total nominal power at full load of 3,352kWe, with co-generated thermal power equal to 3,420kW, for a thermal power input of 7,674kW.

The electricity produced, the net of power station self-consumption, is totally consumed on-site, with any surplus sold to the distribution network. As well as ensuring a low cost of supplying energy resources, cogeneration allows Cartiera di Momo to be partially or even totally self-sufficient from the power grid.

In addition to almost completely covering the energy needs of the paper mill, the system’s cogenerated electrical output allows the production of steam and hot water that are then used in the factory. This new system allows about 4,800 tonnes of CO2 emissions per year to be saved and the achievement of group operability of approximately 8,200 hours/year.
