Our client are an international leading energy company, who are entering the residential energy market across England, Scotland and Wales. Delivering a digital first approach, the business will focus on building innovative energy products and services for their customers.

Initially they wish to recruit an experienced Energy Regulation Manager with excellent knowledge of the GB energy retail market. The Regulation Manager will have primary responsibility for ensuring GB compliance with all retail license conditions for both electricity and gas in Great Britain.

Key Responsibilities

  • Engage and influence key senior regulatory stakeholders such as OFGEM and DECC
  • Liaise with regulators to ensure both our position and policies deliver great customer experience and are accepted
  • Write positions papers on behalf of GB Supply for proposed regulatory changes
  • Responsible for ensuring regulatory compliance across our GB Supply business
  • Ensure Energy Supply responds to all regulatory consultations
  • Review all regulatory communications / decisions and determine the impact on Energy Supply
  • Communicate the impact of regulatory proposals / thinking to the Supply business
  • Ensure Energy Supply is fully compliant with all regulatory requirements for GB market entry in 2017
  • Support and education of all staff as to their regulatory responsibilities
  • Co-ordinate the delivery of all regulatory returns
  • Lead Energy Supply on GB Industry Forums

Knowledge, Skills & Experience Essential

  • 10 yrs+ experience in a regulatory role
  • Minimum five years’ experience in the GB energy industry
  • Proven negotiation experience
  • Experience of interacting with Regulatory Authorities within the GB energy market
  • Deep knowledge of industry trends and future policy / regulatory changes that are likely to occur
  • Understanding of the GB Smart Metering programme and its impact on our regulatory requirements
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • A high level of creative thinking and a positive ‘can do’ attitude
  • Ability to work on your own or as part of a team
  • Excellent analytical and decision making skills
